Field note 13 / The crossing /

The island makes it across.

I wanted the island I had actually built, not a new empty map wearing its name.

Unity Game view of the transferred arrival harbour and unfinished surrounding terrain
Actual Unity Game-view capture of the transferred arrival harbour. The terrain and water still need an art pass.

This was the week Isla Peligro arrived in Unity with its towns, harbour, cliffs and rough edges still attached.

The landscape came over as 63 editable terrain tiles. The original Industries, Desert Town and Industrial Harbour districts came with it, plus the places I'd built by hand: the arrival harbour, lookout, town square, dam, resort, cave and ruins.

I can open the areas separately in the editor and load them around a review camera. That's a useful foundation. It doesn't mean Rusty can run across every cliff or that Bonita can drive from one delivery to the next.

Correos Central in the same transfer pass.

Several things looked wrong on the first pass: cliff colours, dark palms, grey leaves and lighting. I corrected the transfer materials and kept the original source files safe. The island is editable, but roads, banks, ground joins, water and performance still need real work.

It feels good to see the same island in an editor again. It feels slightly less good when I zoom in. That's what the next passes are for.
