Field note 15 / The wet bit /

The island gets its rivers back.

The rivers finally look like they belong between the hills. I haven't put Bonita's pontoons in them yet.

Unity camera render of the reservoir, dam and river branches
Actual Unity camera render from the saved water pass. This is an editable foundation, not final river art or water gameplay.

I was tired of looking at placeholder water, so I gave the dam and island rivers a proper editing pass.

There are now five editable river branches around the dam, lake and outlets. The reservoir, Los Pantanos and the sea have their own water materials, and I shaped a bed under the western outlet so it meets the terrain more convincingly.

The sharp drops still need help. So do the banks, foam, rocks, plants and sound. I haven't tested currents or buoyancy, which means this photograph is not evidence that Bonita can take her pontoons through the swamp.

Speaking of the swamp, I've picked a sheltered pocket in Los Pantanos for a delivery idea: little inhabited islands, awkward wooden links and a reason to bring the pontoons. The location is chosen. The houses and route are still design work, not a built level.

At least the water now gives me something better than a blue placeholder to work against.
